The initial word on Penny Arcade’s episodic adventure game was that it was only supposed to be released on Windows, Linux and Mac. Dubbed Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, the first episode of the game will be distributed as downloadable content for all three OSs later this year.
Other episode are supposed to follow on all four platforms on a regular basis. Currently there’s no price tag attached to the game, but it seems that the price per episode will not go over $20.
The game is under development at independent studio Hothead Games and it’s based on the work of Penny Arcade’s Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik (aka Tycho and Gabe).
Ron Gilbert is consulting on the game’s design. The name should sound familiar to adventure fans; Gilbert is the creator of The Secret of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, so chances are that the PA game (a mix of classic adventure and role-playing) would turn out to be a fine title.
