The information comes from the ESRB, which hastily listed the ratings of the two games. Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne are both rated Mature and both have been listed as Xbox 360 titles.
Interesting enough, the publisher muttered no word about such release plans, which should encourage readers to take the news with the proverbial grain of salt.
On the other hand, it would be no miracle to see both titles arriving on the Microsoft console in the near future. After all, the third title in the Max Payne saga in already in the works, having the previous two titles available for gamers with itchy trigger fingers would fit neatly into the marketing plan.
Furthermore, both titles have already some experience with the original Xbox platform, so a port with shinier graphics and several other tweaks wouldn’t imply a lot of work.
Max Payne 3 is scheduled to be released in Winter 2009 on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360. The hype will reach its height this autumn, so who’s betting on the two previous titles shipping in the same period?
