Reeves told the audience at the PlayStation Day conference that Sony managed to move over 5 million PS3 consoles.

Eurogamer quotes Reeves:

"We are particularly proud of this as it has been achieved in a similar time frame as PlayStation 2 which retailed, if you remember, at a significantly lower price."

The SCEE boss also stressed out that the PlayStaion 3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 on a month-by-month basis since October of 2007. However, Reeves wouldn’t comment when the Nintendo Wii was added into the conversation.

And speaking about Sony’s sales in Europe, Reeves added that the PlayStation 2 console enjoyed sales of over 48 million units, while the PSP passed the 12 million units milestone.
