It seems that Sony BMG has been working on an online music subscription service and is now in negotiations with other major music distributors to add up as much content as possible to the service.

Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, CEO of Sony BMG, unveiled the info during an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Holtz stated that the service would be compatible with most of the digital music players available on the market and would grant subscribers unlimited access to music.

The monthly fee hasn’t been nailed down yet, but Sony BMG’s CEO hinted that it would ranger between 6 and 8 Euro, also adding that, given certain circumstances, users might be allowed to keep at least part of the songs, even though they’ve canceled their subscription.

Needless to say, Holtz chose not to go further with the details.
