The new online community is supposed to be a home for all sort of topics, starting from sexual health and discrimination and ending with global issues like terrorism, poverty or environment.

As expected, the ThinkMTV project is supposed to flourish based on user-uploaded multimedia content, such as videos, blogs, podcasts and news reports. MTV has a serious list of rewards meant for those who will get involved in the project and access to exclusive MTV events is one of the top.

But we’re talking MTV, so there had to be stars willing to “officially” get involved and help drive up users’ interest. Shakira, Bono, Reggie Bush and Steve Nash are but a few examples.

Non-profits and civic organizations were also quick to join: UN, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

ThinkMTV received funding from the Case Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Goldhirsh Foundation, and the MCJ Amelior Foundation.
