Officially, Steinberg’s position will be the newly-created “Vice President, Product Marketing” and not Karraker’s “Senior Director of Corporate Communications”. Then again, the new VP will be responsible for all hardware, software and channel marketing for PlayStation in North America, so it’s mainly the title that makes a difference.

Steinberg will join SCEA officially on October 1. He will report directly to Peter Dille, Senior Vice President, Marketing and PlayStation Network, who seems to be very happy to have him as a new employee:

"We are thrilled to have Scott join our team as he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the PlayStation marketing staff and the management group here at SCEA. Scott has an ideal blend of experience in digital entertainment and content delivery as well as a proven track record for strategic innovation and implementation within this industry. He will be a critical component for the success of our marketing efforts across the PlayStation brand moving forward."

Previously, Steinberg was Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, where he was in charge of the company’s consumer brand and digital commerce efforts in North America. His CV also features entries from several other companies, such as Roxio/Napster, Liquid Audio, Eidos Interactive and Crystal Dynamics.
