Rock Band for Wii will be released as a Special Edition bundle including the software, drums, microphone and a wireless guitar. Also, the game will feature 63 songs including five bonus songs. As expected, stand alone instruments will hit the market on the same day.

“The Wii’s success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in Rock Band,” said Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products, MTV

However, there’s a bit of bad news coming alongside. It appears that downloadable content has been placed on the “missing features” list, at least for the time being. Nintendo is known to be less enthusiastic about letting thrid-parties play on its online turf and the console itself does not feature a lot of storage space, two reasons that would definitely make DLC plans take a step back

Too bad, because downloadable content proved to be a hit with both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers: over 6 million downloads.

The Rock Band for Wii will retail for $169.99
