AT&T announced it plans to change its policies regarding calling plans or early termination fees.
In theory, the new policies would be much more customer-friendly then before. The company stated that the termination fees are to be prorated and based on how much time is remaining in the contract. As for users who decide to change their calling plans, AT&T promised that the fees associated with the process would be reduced.
The new changes will take effect in early next year. However, AT&T wouldn't provide any additional info, as a clear data or financial plans.
Most bets at present time are that the carrier is looking to buy some time and appease its users. Verizon Wireless has already taken similar measures, while T-Mobile is currently facing a lawsuit due to its $200 early termination fee.
At present time, neither T-Mobile nor Sprint seem to plan similar changes, but with their rivals already taking this road, chances are they will follow soon. Or lose customers.
