The Wii Remote Jacket is a silicone cover for the Wii Remote, aimed at providing a better grip, as well as a bit more cushioning. According to Nintendo, the new accessory will be included in all Wii hardware systems and with all Wii Remotes sold separately or packaged with Wii Play.

The company expected the Remote Jacket to become available in mid-October. According to current estimates, there will be around 20 million units shipped in Europe, Japan, and the US.

Current Wii owners request up to four such covers per Wii console. Wii Remote Jacket request can be made on Wii.com website.

This is the second time Nintendo updates its Wii accessory line up. Previously, the company replaced the Wii Remote’s cord with a stronger model.
