The bad news comes from Epic Games’ Lead Game Designer, Cliff Bleszinski. At first, the decision was announced as being the direct result of piracy:

“Here’s the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC,” Bleszinski stated during an interview with TVG. “Right now, it makes sense for us to focus on Xbox 360 for a number of reasons. Not least PCs with multiple configurations and piracy.”

So, it’s all about savvy computer users and free pirated versions, right? Well, not really. The interview went on and Bleszinski was forced to admit that having to develop a PC version, which would have to take many configurations into consideration is not a very appealing idea.

In the end, the matter was resumed to a “definitely no”: Gears of War 2 will not arrive on the PC realm. Besides piracy and thee work involved, it appearss that the game will remain locked in the Xbox 360 game armory because Epic just doesn’t feel like making a PC version.
