This one way to fight an issue that has failed to attract much support in the country. Federal Minister for Communications Stephen Conroy has been making several public appearances to strengthen the support for its cause, but it was all in vain.
The government's project has been under heavy criticism since a list featuring all the websites banned in Australia have been leaked onto the web. Aside from pages with illegal content (child abuse, rape), the list also featured fully-legitimate wsbsites.
At the time, there were numerous questions regarding the ban placed on a dentist's website or on the page of a travel agent. Up till now, the only official answer was in the line of “a regrettable mistake”. Now everyone wonder just how many mistakes will Aussie officials do in the future.
