The WoW maker managed to secure three trademarks, Incgamers reports: Redneck Rampage (1997), Redneck Rampage Rides Again (1998) and Redneck Rampage Suckin’ Grits on Route 66 (1998).

In addition, it seems that the hillbilly FPS series have much more in common with Blizzard than one would suspect at first glance:

“This may sound like an odd choice for a new Blizzard title but after some investigation there are Blizzard team members who worked on the original Redneck games, including WoW’s Senior Producer on Wrath of the Lich King, Burning Crusade and StarCraft Ghost who was Lead Level Designer on Redneck Rampage.”

So, is Blizzard actually considering a revival of the Redneck series? It’s true, both the genre and the game theme are out of Blizzard’s usual area of interest (fantasy-based RPGs or RTSs), but, then again, it just might be that the company seeks to diversify its portfolio.
