The latest scam poses itself as a genuine campaign initiated by fast-food chain McDonald’s. Gullible users are tricked by spam emails to answer a bogus satisfaction survey in hope they would win the sum of $75 as a reward.
The soon-to-be victims are first require to complete a short survey. The next step requires them give phishers their banking details, including their name, email address, and credit card data. The information is required, the phishers claim in the email, so that repondents would be able to receive their $75 bonus.
This scam is not the first and will most certainly won’t be the last. According to Trend Micro, fraudsters tried their luck with similar scams involving Wal-Mart, American Airlines, and U.S. President-Elect Barack Obama.
I just wonder who’d next on their list…
