Chris Ogle (29) from Whangerei, NZ discovered that the secondhand MP3 player featured 60 files with phone numbers of soldiers serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. The files in question had been marked as “secret” and were dating from 2005.
In addition, some of the files also appeared to include data about a secret mission.
The U.S. Department of Defense has yet to come up with an explanation (if that’s even remotely possible). Suffice to say that similar incidents have been reported in the past and, chances are, will be reported in the future as well.
The moral of this story is plain and simple: looks like Uncle Sam sees Intelligence only as another way of saying “secret service”. Perhaps somebody should raise the Army standards a bit, so they don’t fall down completely?
