Ubisoft’s public relations director Jaime Cottini confirmed in a statement to MTV Multiplayer that the company will no longer spend time and money on the project:

“The rights to the ‘Heroes’ video game have reverted back to NBC Universal. Ubisoft will no longer produce a video game based on the TV series.”

The Heroes game was announced in July 2007 and everybody seemed to have forgotten about it up till now. Ubisoft may keep quite about why it chose to axe the project altogether, but the reasons aren’t that hard to figure out.

First of all, two previous TV show-based games (ABC’s “Lost” and CBS’s “CSI.”) met with mediocre ratings and success.

In the mean time, the NBC’s Heroes show struggles to keep up its falling ratings, thus making it a very unattractive muse.
