Sony: No PlayStation 3 Price Cut
Published on Business  |  April 1, 2009, 11:24

Recent rumors had it that the PlayStation 3 was heading for another price cut. But rumors are rumors and Sony's policy has nothing to do with them.

SCEA public relations manager Al De Leon was quick to set things straight: the price of the console remains the same, no matter what:

"As we have stated previously, we do not have plans for a PS3 price drop, and any rumors to that effect are false and are the result of speculation. SCEA remains focused on the long-term momentum of PS3. With the industry's best software lineup this year, combined with our most aggressive marketing campaign to date, we remain confident in our approach and the value we're delivering with PS3."

It's worth noting ow Sony chose to answer this one. Instead of going on the usual: “we ignore rumors”, the company said “No” in a very blunt manner. So there is some pressure on Sony to drop the price after all...

In related news, the PlayStation 2 console is now officially $100.
