Samsung Claims To Have The Lightest Laptop On The Market

Samsung's brand new X360 is the king laptop in the thin-and-light category. Or so the company claims.

The new 13.3-Inch notebook weighs of 1.27kg and will become available to eager shoppers this September.

The Samsung X360 is based on Intel's Centrino 2 mobile platform and comes equipped with a minimum 1GB of memory (4GB maximum) and either a120GB HDD (5400rpm S-ATA) or Flash SSD storage (up to 128GB). It packs a removable 6 cell battery that enables up to 10 hours continuous use.

Additional features include HDMI Connection, 3 USB ports, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi a/b/g/n, 7-in-1 card reader, and 1.3Mpix web camera. A DVD writes will be available an as optional device.

“The X360 pushes back the boundaries of form and function to deliver real style with substance,” said HS Kim, Executive Vice President of Samsung Computer Systems Division. “It offers a tremendous reduction in size and weight but without compromising on functionality, so users have everything they need for life on the move,”

The Samsung X360 will come packed with Windows Vista Business edition. The company stated that release plans have been made for European countries including UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, and also in Russia, China and Hong Kong. No exact date or price were unveiled.
