Mozilla Launches Thunderbird-Focused Company
Mozilla has hinted a long time ago that all the Thunderbird-related development had to be handled by a separate company. Now, the move is official, with Mozilla announcing the launch of a new subsidiary: Mozilla Messaging.

"Every one of us is committed to building a great email product that people will love to use and that serves as the foundation for choice in a critical area of Internet software," said David Ascher, Mozilla Messaging CEO.
The official announcement was rather brief. Mozilla Messaging is to focus on development of Thunderbird, a client which is to remain in the open source camp. However, Mozilla chose not to disclose the exact size of the new company, to which it also refers to as "small product development team".
