iPhone SDK Madness: Over 100,000 Downloads
Published on Software  |  March 13, 2008, 12:14

Apple's iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) beta has stormed the download servers, as over 100,000 developers rushed to download the beta.

The company announced that it took only four days to reach the round figure. The iPhone SDK was launched on March 6.

“Developer reaction to the iPhone SDK has been incredible [...] Also, over one million people have watched the launch video on Apple.com, further demonstrating the incredible interest developers have in creating applications for the iPhone,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

The iPhone SDK provides developers with the same rich set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and tools that Apple uses to create its native applications for iPhone and iPod touch.

The free beta iPhone SDK is available worldwide and can be downloaded from here. The iPhone Developer Program will initially be available only in the US, with Apple planning to expand to other countries in the coming months.
