Asus Officially unveils EeePC 901, 1000 And 1000(H)
Published on Hardware  |  June 3, 2008, 11:08

Asus already pushed 1 million Eee PC off the shelves, but is eager to drive these numbers much further with the release of three new models: EeePC 901, 1000 and 1000(H).

The models will ship with either Windows XP or Linux.

“With constant innovations and implementation of the latest technologies in the new Eee PC range, we have since expanded the original 3 ‘E’s into ‘Easy’, ‘Excellent’ and ‘Exciting’. ‘Easy’ will still encompass the core value of Easy to learn, work and play, ‘Excellent’ will highlight the Eee PC’s role as an Excellent mobile Internet device and ‘Exciting’ entails utilizing the Eee PC for Exciting multimedia enjoyment.” said Jerry Shen, CEO of ASUS.

The star feature of the new models seems to be the exclusive Super Hybrid Engine technology that is said to provide battery lifespans of “up to 7.8 hours”. According to Asus, the technology provides three GUI modes to easily adjust CPU frequency, voltage, and LCD brightness to minimize system noise and power consumption to save up to 15% power consumption.

The new models feature Atom processors, a storage of 12 or 20GB SSD (the EeePC 1000 can feature 40GB SSD, while the 1000H goes up to 80GB), displays ranging from 8.9” to 10” and a built-in 1.3M Pixel webcam.

There's still no word about the price of the new devices, but rumor has it that such data will pop up soon enough.

The original Eee PC line debuted back in October 2007.
