Android Phone To Retail For Under $200
Published on Telecom  |  September 18, 2008, 16:09

The first Android phone will be released next week in the US and will bear a price tag reading $199.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the Google-backed phone will be available only with a T-Mobile subscription plan. The bad news is that the device won't also be available for those who'd rather fancy a pay-as-you-go package.

There is o word on how long will the T-Mobile contract require the end-user to keep up the subscription plan with the company. Chances are that the Android phone will come packed with the standard -two-year contract.

Also, there was no mention of pricing plans. With no figures available, one things is almost certain though: it won't be cheap.

The Android-powered phone is manufactured by the Taiwanese HTC Corp. Rumor has it that its official name will be “T-Mobile G1”. Still, until an official release clears the matter up, the name ramains in the same drawer containing the previous HTC Dream and Googlephone.
