Acer Takes The Lead In Netbook Market
Asus lost the lead of the netbook market in the third quarter. Acer is now holding the crown and scepter when it comes to mini laptops.

Still, both companies ended up with great financial results as compared to the rest of the competitors:
- Hewlett Packard – 0.33 million (5.8%)
- MSI - 0.32 million (5.7%)
- Dell – 0.16 million ( 2.8%)
Interesting enough, the number six in the top is the One Laptop Per Child organisation with a market share of 2.3% and 0.13 million sold.
All in all, DisplaySearch believes that the emerging netbook market will settle at less than 20% of the laptop PC market in the next 3 years:
“Worldwide demand for these products is forecast to grow rapidly over the next few years with demand from a variety of sources, including early adopters, consumer and enterprise PC customers seeking a smaller or secondary notebook PC, as well as new PC customers in emerging markets. We expect the mini-note PC market to settle at approximately 16% share of the notebook PC market by 2011" said John F. Jacobs, Director of Notebook Market Research.
